The former Cold Chain Global Forum website had a page at /master-class-a--fenway-visit. An archived copy from October 2016 shows what it described. The registration buttons that surrounded it are not restored.

Verified facts

  • The archived page was headed “Master Class A & Fenway Visit” and carried the dates 26 to 30 September 2016 and the Hynes Convention Center, Boston, matching the 14th Annual forum announced in May 2016. [1][3]
  • The master class was listed under the “Temperature Assurance Packaging (TAP) Certification Program”. [1]
  • The page described the master class as a case-study based learning session with group coaching. [1]
  • It said the case studies would cover considerations in designing a temperature assurance package: product details, regulatory considerations, transportation and logistics, environment and ambient profiles, operational process, and packaging design and cost considerations. [1]
  • The same page listed an evening visit to Fenway Park, in Boston: coach bus transfer from the Hynes Convention Center, a cocktail reception at the ballpark, a one-hour walking tour led by tour guides, time in a batting cage, and a return transfer. [1]
  • The June 2016 agenda page for the forum described three pre-conference master class training sessions as part of the week. [2]
  • The May 2016 press release described the forum as including interactive workshops and master-class training sessions. [3]

Additional detail from the sources

  • The snapshot of the master class page was captured on 18 October 2016, more than two weeks after the forum week ended on 30 September, so it shows the page as it stood after the event. [1]
  • The reception was described on the page as “Cocktails and Reception at America’s most beloved ballpark and the home of Red Sox, Fenway Ball Park”. [1]
  • Among the case-study considerations, the page printed the headings “Environment and Ambient Profiles” and “Packaging Design and Cost Considerations”, the second of which combines packaging design and cost in one entry. [1]
  • The June 2016 agenda page counted three master class sessions among eight workshops and two main-conference days, so the page documented here covers one of the master class sessions. [2]
  • The May 2016 announcement described the forum as having “interactive workshops, master-class training sessions, a four-track main conference session design, panel discussions”. [3]

What the archived page does not say

The page does not name the faculty, the sponsor or the host of the evening, and the day of the master class within the week is not recorded. The sources do not say who certified the program, whether anyone received a certificate, or how many people attended. The evening description is a plan, with no account of what happened.

Source material and scope

What exists: one archived page and two other 2016 documents that confirm the dates, venue and general format. The visit is described only as the page listed it, in advance.

What is missing: the day on which the master class took place, the names of the faculty, any sponsor or host of the evening, attendance, and any record of how the day actually went. Times printed on the archived page are not reproduced here. The page named the ballpark as a venue; it did not name a partner company, and this site does not treat Fenway Park or any company as a partner. The certification program is named as printed. The sources do not say who awarded or recognized it.

How this record connects to other archive pages

The week summarized in the agenda records for 2016 and 2017 included this session, along with the eight workshops and fifteen roundtable topics that were not given their own pages. The 2016 awards record covers the ceremony from the same week, and the 2017 Day Two record shows how a later edition’s sessions were described.

For the year before, the 2015 programme record lists the topics announced for the 13th edition. The documents behind this record are listed in the historical resource index, and every record is on the archive home.

Editorial analysis: why these topics still matter

The Editorial Desk’s analysis here rests on a page that lists topics and format only, so it does not describe what the master class taught or how the case studies were resolved.

The list of considerations for designing a temperature assurance package is a useful checklist even without the course material. Product details and regulatory considerations come first, because the package has to serve the product’s documented storage and transport conditions. Environment and ambient profiles, together with transportation and logistics, define the exposure the shipper has to survive. Operational process covers who packs, how long components are conditioned and what happens at handover. Packaging design and cost close the list.

Several of these steps have their own current guide. The guide on insulated shipper selection turns the exposure questions into five inputs for a supplier specification. The guide on reviewing a qualification report shows how to check whether the evidence matches those inputs, and the guide on packout cost breaks cost per shipment into materials, refrigerant and conditioning energy, labor, monitoring, return logistics and losses. Taken together they follow the same order as the 2016 list, from product through exposure to cost, without asserting that any course followed it.
